September 18th 2015: First meeting of the year! The first meeting of the 2015-2016 school year was an introduction meeting. No presentations about LGBTIQA+ issues were discussed. Member rights and bylaws were read and everyone went around the room saying their name, romantic/sexual orientation, and preferred pronouns. (If they were comfortable doing so and if we can call them by their chosen name/pronouns outside of the club) We had 30 minutes left until the club was dismissed and the club participated in Heads up, 7 up and Telephone until 5:00 PM and everyone was allowed to leave. If you wish to see the powerpoint, head over to the "Information" tab!
September 25th 2015: Second meeting of the year! The second meeting this year was lead by a member of the club and not an officer. Said member gave a very informational ppt on LGBTQA+ vocabulary which educated many of the members in the club who didn't know much about other gender identities and sexual/romantic identities outside of the society norms. The member also shared with us some very interesting facts about which states and countries are very friendly to the community and which aren't so friendly. She concluded her presentation with a very touching and inspiring story about her coming out and realizing who she really was. Our V.P., Hannah Scott, gave a short presentation on political figures in the LGBTQA+ community and our president, Ace Kent, concluded the whole meeting by telling us about his queer YouTube channel and showing us a video of a little series he has started called "More Than a Label" which you can watch in our "Information" tab! He is looking for more queer people with amazing talents and if you are interested in being in a video then catch him at the next GSA meeting or email us @ johnchampegsa@.gmail.com! The meeting ended at 5:00 exactly and was a very informational meeting. If you want to lead a meeting about a topic you feel is important please email us and tell us your idea and if we approve, have a ppt, video, speech, etc so an officer can review it and we'll make sure you get a chance to share!

Hannah also told us about many trans/non-binary characters and people in the media and explained why representation is important. A discussion started about whether or not cis people are allowed to play trans people. Many good points were made and the discussion was a very calm dispute, but saldy couldn't go on forever because the meeting was coming to a close. Ace Kent, our president, closed the meeting by showing us three button poetry videos about queer issues which you can see in our "Information" tab!
October 9th 2015: Fourth meeting of the year! The fourth meeting this year was lead by Secretary; Lu Sheikh. The presentation was on queer baiting and the affects it has on the community. The meeting then had a discussion about people using the LGBTQA+ community as fan service and why that's bad and how people tend to pair up real life people for their own fantasies. Ace showed us some songs about the queer community which you can watch in our "Information" tab and we finished up the meeting with stories about coming out, being in the closet, or just living life as a member of the community.
October 16th 2015: Fifth meeting of the year! The fifth meeting this year was lead by our president, Ace Kent. Ace did a really quick explanation about how you can't gender clothing/non-human objects and if you're interested in seeing that you can always check out our 'Information' tab! After her presentation, we went around the room and said three labels that describe us. A discussion about liking or not liking labels started and we all decided to agree to disagree. Some members felt that label culture was just bad and couldn't be positive while others felt like it helped you know someone better. Some Trunk or Treat information was explained and then a member talked about a LGBTQA+ photoshoot she wanted to do and had people sign up for it. It gives queer youth a chance to wear clothes they are comfortable with and feel good about themselves.
